Ahoy Matey!
Welcome aboard the Beer Bard's Privateers website.
The mission of the Beer Bard's Privateers is to further interest in maritime tradition, knowledge and study of sailing history. To become an integral part of community events, not just in our own neighborhood but abroad; To delight and encourage active participation in maritime arts; To engage in Carta Caritatis (the Character of Charity) and help the community (children's charities, food bank, hospital) whenever possible.



The Beer Bard Privateers are a small band of naval history re-enactment enthusiasts of all ages, that exist within the framework of other historical groups such as the: Society of Creative Anachronism, and Renaissance Faire.  We are based in Kelowna, British Columbia. We attend events, conduct classes, demonstrations, entertain and seek to enhance our knowledge of the naval arts & sciences from the 16th to the 18th Centuries.   The focus of The Beer Bard Privateers is a sailor's life from the late 16th century, up until about the mid-1700's.

June 20-22- Westport Pirate Daze 2008
The Beer Bard Privateers and the mini-brigs were at the Westport Pirate Daze 2008. It was a great event as usual and has grown significantly over the years. A few videos of the battles are now posted up on youtube:

June 8th- Parties/Events 2008
Due to overwhelming response -- we have added a BB Privateers parties/events form. If you would like a fully interactive pirate display, including mini-brigantines (tallships) at your next birthday party, dance, corporate function, or event. Please fill out our event form: I WANT PIRATES/PRIVATEERS!

June 6th & 7th 2008 - Fat Cat Children's Festival 2008
The Beer Bard Privateers had a great interactive display at the Fat Cat Festival. The two day event featured a host of world class entertainers. Both boats were present, as was a fully interactive pirate display. One of the last large festival in Kelowna --- thousands of onlookers kept the pirates hopping. If you have pictures of the event we would love to see them!

July 27th 2007 - Vancouver Ren Faire 2007
The Beer Bard Privateers were on-hand for the first Vancouver Renaissance Faire. Despite the small crowds the ren faire was fun. July 1, 2007 - Canada Day Kelowna
Bad news for the Liberte! An out of control powerboater, travelling at way too fast a speed T-Boned her while she sat tied up at the pier -- punched a nice size hole just above the waterline near the aft locker. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The RCMP are investigating the case.

June 22-26, 2007 - Westport Pirate Daze 2007
The trip from Westport was a complete success. The Liberte and Adventure did battle with four other mini-brigs from the Rusty Scupper Pirates. It was alot of fun! and the Beer Bards were met with a group from the Northwest Propmasters. Thankyou, Robyn, Steve and Jessie! Kudos to Robyn and her shantie singin'

June 9, 2007 - Fat Cat
The Beer Bard Privateers were on hand with both Brigs for the Fat Cat Children's festival. Battle Sail was at 1:30pm -- Kids made "Jack Sparrow" tricorn hats, and spyglasses. June 7, 2007 - Server Down
Our long time server at Omena.org seems to have bitten the dust. We apologize for the confusion and downtime. We will be moving to freehostia, and will register a new domain in the coming months. We have been with Omena.org for about four years, and aren't sure what happened. Thanks Omena for the good times.

June 2, 2007 - Liberte Launched!
The second mini-brig the Liberte made it's debut on local waters!! Huzzah's all around!

Sept. 4th, 2006 - Shaw TV!
Yar Mateys!!!! Doug Brown and the crew of Okanagan Today were firin' the Adventure's cannons and will be airing their story on Shaw TV (Cable 11). on Sept. 4th, 2006 starting at 6pm, and recurring the following day starting at 11am. A hardy three cheers for their crew!

August 30th, 2006 - CBC Radio!
Argh!!! The CBC was aboard the Beer Bard's privateer vessel the Adventure and will be airing their story on CBC Radio One. on August 31st, 2006 during the CBC's Daybreak South Morning Show (7:45-8:00am)

July 30th, 2006 - Rapier Practices!
Thanks to several local SCA members: Kristophe & Lothair. There are regular rapier practice on Sundays, 11amish-3pm , at Watson Rd. Elementary, in Kelowna. The address is just off Glenmore Rd: @ 455 Yates Rd. Also practices on Thurs. same location after 8PM. Come on out and learn to handle yer sword!

July 15th, 2006 - Back on the Water!
Finally got the Adventure out on Okanagan lake this year. We welcome our newest members. If you want to join our ranks, check out our members page! Moved the battery forward and now she balances nicely om the water.

Busy moving to new homeport. Better facilities will make it easier to expand the fleet for next summer.
